7 Days Rongai Route
Day 0: Arrival in Moshi
- Arrive in Moshi, Tanzania, a vibrant town located near Mount Kilimanjaro.
- Meet with Mr Andrew or Our representative for a briefing and equipment check.
- Spend the day resting, exploring Moshi, and preparing for your trek.
- Overnight stay in a hotel or lodge in Moshi.
Day 1: Rongai Gate (1,950m) to Simba Camp (2,650m)
- After breakfast, drive to the Rongai Gate.
- Complete registration formalities and meet the rest of the trekking crew.
- Begin trekking through the rainforest.
- Arrive at Simba Camp for dinner and overnight camping.
Day 2: Simba Camp (2,650m) to Kikelewa Camp (3,600m)
- Wake up early for breakfast.
- Trek through the moorland, passing Second Cave along the way.
- Ascend steadily to Kikelewa Camp.
- Enjoy dinner and rest at the campsite.
Day 3: Kikelewa Camp (3,600m) to Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,330m)
- Start the day with a hearty breakfast.
- Trek across the expansive moorland, with views of Mawenzi Peak.
- Arrive at Mawenzi Tarn Camp, situated near a small lake.
- Rest and acclimatize at the campsite.
Day 4: Acclimatization Day at Mawenzi Tarn Camp
- Spend the day acclimatizing to the altitude.
- Take short hikes around the campsite to aid acclimatization.
- Enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
- Rest and hydrate adequately.
Day 5: Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,330m) to Kibo Hut (4,700m)
- Resume the trek towards Kibo Hut, the basecamp for the summit attempt.
- Trek across the lunar-like landscape of the Saddle.
- Arrive at Kibo Hut in the afternoon.
- Rest and prepare for the summit push.
- Have an early dinner and try to rest before the summit attempt.
Day 6: Summit Attempt - Kibo Hut (4,700m) to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) and descent to Horombo Hut (3,720m)
- Wake up around midnight for a light snack and preparation.
- Begin the ascent to Gilman’s Point under the stars.
- Continue towards Stella Point and finally reach Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, in time for sunrise.
- Take photos, celebrate, and enjoy the accomplishment.
- Descend back to Kibo Hut for breakfast and a short rest.
- Continue the descent to Horombo Hut for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Horombo Hut (3,720m) to Marangu Gate (1,860m)
- Descend through the rainforest, enjoying the changing scenery.
- Arrive at Marangu Gate, where you’ll receive certificates for your Kilimanjaro climb.
- Say farewell to your trekking crew and transfer back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha.
- Enjoy a celebratory dinner and a well-deserved rest.
