7 Days Machame Route
Day 0: Arrival in Moshi
- Arrive in Moshi, Tanzania, a vibrant town located near Mount Kilimanjaro.
- Meet with Mr Andrew or Our representative for a briefing and equipment check.
- Spend the day resting, exploring Moshi, and preparing for your trek.
- Overnight stay in a hotel or lodge in Moshi.
Day 1: Machame Gate to Machame Camp
- Breakfast at the hotel.
- Transfer to Machame Gate (1,800m).
- Registration with park authorities and meet your trekking team.
- Begin the trek through lush rainforest.
- Lunch break along the trail.
- Arrival at Machame Camp (3,010m) for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp
- Early breakfast at the camp.
- Trek through moorland and into the heath zone.
- Ascend through the scenic Shira Plateau.
- Lunch stop en route.
- Arrival at Shira Camp (3,840m) for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Shira Camp to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower
- Breakfast at camp.
- Trek towards Lava Tower (4,630m) for acclimatization.
- Descend to Barranco Valley through the surreal Senecio Forest.
- Lunch at Lava Tower or Barranco Camp.
- Arrive at Barranco Camp (3,950m) for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
- Begin the day with a steep climb up the Barranco Wall.
- Traverse through valleys and ridges, enjoying breathtaking views.
- Arrive at Karanga Camp in the afternoon.
- Set up camp, relax, and prepare for the next day’s ascent to Barafu Camp.
Day 5: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
- Trek from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp, the base camp for the summit attempt.
- The trail is steep and challenging, crossing rocky terrain and scree slopes.
- Arrive at Barafu Camp in the afternoon.
- Rest, hydrate, and have an early dinner.
- Prepare your gear and rest before the summit attempt.
Day 6: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp
- Wake up around midnight for a quick snack and to prepare for the summit attempt.
- Start the steep ascent to Stella Point, where you’ll witness a spectacular sunrise.
- Continue trekking to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa!
- Take photos, celebrate, and enjoy the incredible views before descending.
- Descend back to Barafu Camp for a short rest and breakfast.
- Continue descending to Mweka Camp for dinner and overnight rest.
Day 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
- Descend through lush rainforest
- Arrive at Mweka Gate (1,640 meters)
- Sign out with park authorities
- Receive summit certificates
- Transfer back to Moshi or Arusha
- Trekking duration: 3-4 hours
- End of the trek
