7 Days Lemosho Route

Day 0: Arrival in Moshi

  • Arrive in Moshi, Tanzania, a vibrant town located near Mount Kilimanjaro.
  • Meet with Mr Andrew or Our representative for a briefing and equipment check.
  • Spend the day resting, exploring Moshi, and preparing for your trek.
  • Overnight stay in a hotel or lodge in Moshi.

Day 1: Lemosho Gate to Big Tree Camp

  • Continue the trek, leaving the rainforest behind and entering the heath and moorland zone.
  • Ascend through the Shira Plateau, offering stunning views of Kilimanjaro.
  • Reach Shira 1 Camp and settle in for the night.
  • Dinner and overnight camping.

Day 2: Big tree Camp to Shira 2 Camp

Continue through the rainforest, and after a few hours, emerge into moorland. Ascend steadily through beautiful heather and savannah until you reach Shira 2 Camp (3,850m/12,631ft) for your overnight stay.

Day 3: Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower

  • Breakfast at the camp
  • Hike from Shira 2 Camp to Lava Tower (4,630m)
  • Acclimatization stop at Lava Tower
  • Descend to Barranco Camp (3,960m)
  • Hiking time: 7-8 hours
  • Terrain: Semi-desert
  • Dinner and overnight at Barranco Camp

Day 4: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

  • Breakfast at the camp
  • Climb Barranco Wall
  • Trek from Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp (3,995m)
  • Hiking time: 3-4 hours
  • Terrain: Alpine desert
  • Dinner and overnight at Karanga Camp
Day 5: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
  • Breakfast at the camp
  • Continue the trek from Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (4,673m)
  • Hiking time: 3-4 hours
  • Terrain: Alpine desert
  • Rest and prepare for summit night
  • Early dinner and rest at Barafu Camp
Day 6: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp
  • Wake up around midnight for a quick snack and to prepare for the summit attempt.
  • Start the steep ascent to Stella Point, where you’ll witness a spectacular sunrise.
  • Continue trekking to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa!
  • Take photos, celebrate, and enjoy the incredible views before descending.
  • Descend back to Barafu Camp for a short rest and breakfast.
  • Continue descending to Mweka Camp for dinner and overnight rest.
Day 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
  • Descend through lush rainforest
  • Arrive at Mweka Gate (1,640 meters)
  • Sign out with park authorities
  • Receive summit certificates
  • Transfer back to Moshi or Arusha
  • Trekking duration: 3-4 hours
  • End of the trek
